About Us

Our Spiritual Heritage

Our community follows the sacred teachings of Guru Gorakhnath Ji and the revered saint Baba Peer Ratan Nath Ji, whose spiritual lineage forms part of the ancient Nath Sampradaya tradition.

This lineage traces its origin to Shiva, the first yogi, whose teachings were passed down through great masters such as Matsyendranath Ji and later spread widely by Guru Gorakhnath Ji.

Baba Peer Ratan Nath Ji is remembered as a saint who travelled across the regions of Punjab, Afghanistan and the wider Indian subcontinent, spreading spiritual teachings of devotion, humility, service, and unity. His message emphasised the importance of seva (selfless service), compassion, and spiritual discipline.

The sacred Mandir–Dargah dedicated to Baba Peer Ratan Nath Ji at Jhandewalan Temple in Delhi remains an important place of reverence for followers of this tradition.

Our Community Roots

Our congregation is largely formed by members of the Hindu Afghan community, whose families lived for generations across Afghanistan in cities such as Kabul, Jalalabad and Ghazni.

For centuries, Afghan Hindus maintained their temples, traditions and spiritual practices while contributing to the social and cultural life of the country. However, due to the changing circumstances in the region over recent decades, many families were forced to migrate and rebuild their lives abroad.

Today our community has established itself in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world, where we continue to preserve our religious traditions, language, culture and shared heritage.

Our Mission

Our mission is to serve as a spiritual and cultural home for the Afghan Hindu community and for all those who wish to participate in our traditions.

We aim to:

  • Preserve the teachings and spiritual lineage of Guru Gorakhnath and Baba Peer Ratan Nath Ji
  • Promote the values of seva (selfless service), compassion and community unity
  • Provide a place for satsang, prayer and spiritual reflection
  • Support members of the Afghan Hindu diaspora
  • Pass our traditions and heritage to future generations

Seva and Community Service

Seva is at the heart of our work.

Inspired by the teachings of our Gurus, we believe that serving humanity is one of the highest forms of devotion.

Our volunteers work together to organise:

  • community gatherings and satsangs
  • religious celebrations and festivals
  • charitable initiatives
  • cultural education for younger generations

Through these activities we aim to strengthen our community while remaining open and welcoming to all.

Looking Forward

As a community shaped by migration and resilience, we remain deeply connected to our spiritual roots while building a positive future for our children.

Our goal is to ensure that the teachings of our Gurus, the traditions of our ancestors, and the spirit of seva continue to guide and inspire our community for generations to come.
